Is your school or community group looking for a permanent ‘statement’ piece of art to showcase your pupils’ creativity, express your community’s individuality or to promote your school’s ethos and values? As a visiting artist and an experienced teacher I can enable your pupils and staff to create something unique and beautiful to enhance their learning environment.
I lead art and craft projects with a defined end product – for example a wall-hanging to display in a newly decorated entrance hall, or perhaps to commemorate an event or to celebrate links with the local area. These projects are tailored to meet your specific requirements - I teach the skills involved, source materials and lead the project from conception to completion. I also provide in-school workshops to develop particular art, craft and design skills, from textile arts such as patchwork and embroidery to papermaking and felting. These workshops could be held as stand-alone events linked to either the Art or Design & Technology curriculum, or alternatively embedded within a cross-curricular project or linked to national initiatives.
Large-scale in-school art projects are the perfect way to provide curriculum enrichment and creative challenge for pupils of all abilities.
Learning new skills in a less academic setting can raise self-esteem and give many children a real chance to shine outside the normal classroom environment.
Your whole school family can share in the design and creation of a ‘legacy’ piece of art which can be appreciated by everyone for years to come.
Projects such as this encourage collaboration and cooperation skills within your school and they also provide an excellent opportunity to foster links with your local community.
National initiatives can be linked to the school curriculum in a fun and inspiring way.
I am a qualified teacher with many years teaching experience – I understand how schools operate in today’s educational ‘climate’ and the many pressures that they are under. Organisation, flexibility and the ability to adapt to your individual school are key features of how I operate.
Prices vary but compare favourably with supply teaching rates - I charge a daily teaching fee + travel expenses + materials cost. Final costs depend on the type of project, materials and the nature of my involvement. To make an enquiry please contact me
